Entering PD records

Overview

Once an animal has had a PD, it is advisable to enter this information into the Herd Management program.   This tutorial will show you the easiest way to achieve this for one or more animals PD'd on the same date.  Some drop-down boxes e.g. Group require setting up via the Setup program menu; click the Setup menu item you require and then press F1 on the keyboard to get more help.
Follow the instructions in the order that they appear.

To enter PD results:

  1. Move your mouse pointer to the left-hand side of the screen and single left-click on the Data Entry Helper button.  The main portion of the screen will change to show a list of program tasks
  2. Click on the button for entering PD results.  You are now presented with two further buttons
  3. Click on the button for entering PD results in a batch.  The PD Results Window will now display (shown below).  You can also access this window from the Data Entry | Cows | PD Results Batch
  4. Click the arrow on the Date of PD drop-down box and use the calendar to select the required date (Tip: you can move through the months using the scroll arrows at the top of the calendar.

  2. Identify the row for each animal that you want to record a PD result for and double left-click in the PD Result box.  This will present you with the drop-down options list - "Positive", "Negative" or "Recheck".  Click on the option required.
  3. You can alter the animal's management group via the Group drop-down box if you wish, and also type in a condition score in the Condition box
  4. Click the Apply Batch button app_batch.jpg (673 bytes) on the toolbar
  5. Close the Window.  If any of your changes are not saved, the program will prompt you to save them save_rec.jpg (644 bytes) before closing the Window
