Downsview Farmhouse has a newly-established ice cream-making enterprise, supplying retailers and eateries throughout Sussex.

Orchid was given the brief to create a multi-page website to generate more sales enquiries for the business.

All copy was written in-house by Orchid utilizing our knowledge of agriculture and rural business. The business proprietor advised us that customers seemed keen to know more about actual farming side of the business.  This comment agrees with other feedback received by Orchid, which indicates that the general public enjoys learning about farming and the countryside.  Including content along these lines (if regularly updated) can be a useful way to keep visitors returning to a web site.

The site employs on-page search engine optimization techniques.  The content and key phrases are monitored by Orchid with the objective of improving the organic search engine rankings of the site from the date of its launch in July 2007.

All location and product photography work for the Downsview Farm site was also undertaken by Orchid.

We also host the site as part of a cost-effective web package.  This facilitates the rapid deployment of content updates and the addition of new site functionality.

Kettering Fuchsia Society’s main objective for their web site is to better communicate its range of activities to existing members and encourage applications from new members.  The Society approached Orchid to design the site structure and overall look.

The project was successfully accomplished within one month.  It is planned that the site will expand its content to include, for example, more detailed horticultural information.  This is in keeping with society’s objective to share and transfer knowledge of Fuchsia growing.

The site is maintained and hosted by Orchid.  New content is submitted to Orchid every month by society officials and is posted live on the web site usually within one working day.

In situations like this one, we can also recommend a simple Content Management System (CMS), where the site owner can login and add new text content via a familiar word-processor screen.  For further information, please contact us to discuss this type of web application.
